If you would like free confidential and independent advice, you can contact the following agencies:
- Citizens Advice http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/.
- The Consumer Advice Centre.
- Money Advice Centre.
You will find their telephone numbers and addresses in your local telephone directory under 'counselling and advice' or listed at your local library. You may wish to contact Social Services who are unlikely to offer financial support but will offer general advice.
WaterSure (formerly known as the Protect scheme)
There are Government regulations to protect you if you receive certain benefits or tax credits and live in a property with a water meter. You must also have either three or more children up to 19 years old in full time education who live with you or someone in your household who has a medical condition which means they use a lot of water. If this applies to you, you do not have to pay more than the average household bill. Please call our Customer Centre on 0845 782 0111 and ask for details.
