We are proud to provide a sustainable, affordable, clean and safe water supply and to manage and treat the waste water returned to us in a way that protects the environment.
Essex & Suffolk Water has a strong conservation department; our core interests lie in the sustainable management of our operational sites to increase biodiversity and reduce our company’s impact on the environment. Some areas within our sites are designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Special Protection Areas (SPAs), Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) or have been identified as ancient woodland, all of which require special attention and detailed management plans. Our catchment management projects enable us to work with other stakeholders in our catchments to ensure that the raw water quality is maintained at a high level.
We work in partnership with a variety of external organisations to manage the land we own throughout Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk. Links to these partners, such as Natural England, the Environment Agency, the Essex Wildlife Trust, and the Broads Authority can be found throughout this section of the website alongside information on the public access and recreational opportunities available at our sites.
