We are proud to provide a sustainable, affordable, clean and safe water supply and to manage and treat the waste water returned to us in a way that protects the environment.
47p per day or £171 for the year starting 1st April 2011 is the average bill for a metered household. If you pay by Direct Debit directly to us this amount is reduced by £3.00.
Your metered water and services bill is in two parts:
• A fixed charge.
• A charge for the amount you use (usage) measured in cubic metres.
(A cubic metre is 1000 litres or 220 gallons)
You pay
• A fixed charge of £35.70
• A charge of 121.49p per cubic metre
If your sewerage services are provided by Thames Water, Essex & Suffolk Water collects the charges on their behalf. Their charges for the year commencing 1st April 2011 are as follows:
• A fixed charge of £48.00.
• A charge of 59.00p per cubic metre.

There are government regulations to protect you if you or someone in your household receives certain benefits or tax credits and live in a property with a water meter. To qualify for WaterSure, you must also have three or more children up to 19 years old in full-time education who live with you, or someone in your household who has a medical condition which means they use a lot of water. If this applies to you, you do not have to pay more than the average household bill - you could save money.
Please visit the WaterSure webpage or call our Customer Centre on 0845 782 0111 to find out if you are eligible and to request an application form.
If you need to contact Thames Water regarding any query or problem relating to your wastewater please call 0845 920 0800.
If your enquiry is about your bill please contact Essex & Suffolk Water on 0845 782 0111.
If you have a water meter, Thames Water will consider reducing your measured sewerage charge if you can prove that you return less than 90% of the water supplied to you based on one year's consumption. Please contact them for an application form if you believe you are eligible to make a claim.
If you believe that surface water from your property does not drain to Thames Water’s sewers, ring Thames Water's drainage line on 0845 920 0888 to ask for an application form to apply for a reduction of £21.00 for household customers, or a reduction based on pipe size for other customers. You will need to say on the form what the drainage arrangements are for your property. Thames Water will investigate your application and tell you whether or not you are eligible for a reduction in your bill.
If your wastewater services are provided by Anglian Water, you will receive a separate bill from them. You can contact them for any billing queries on 08457 91 91 55.
