Unmetered charges in Essex

59p a day or £216 for the year starting 1st April 2010 is the average household bill for domestic customers who are not on a meter. If you pay by direct debit directly to us this amount is reduced by £3.00.

Charges (for the period of 1 April 2010 – 31 March 2011)

Your unmetered water services bill is in two parts.

• A fixed charge.

• A charge based on the rateable value (RV) of your property.

You pay

A fixed charge of £47.50.

• A charge of 70.60p per £ of rateable value.

Your sewerage charges

If your wastewater services are provided by Thames Water, Essex & Suffolk Water collects the charges on their behalf. Their charges for the year commencing 1st April 2010 are as follows:

Standing charge - £36.00

Charge for each £ of rateable value:

• Brentwood 32.87p.

• Havering, Barking 30.72p.

There are government regulations to protect you if you or someone in your household receives certain benefits or tax credits and live in a property with a water meter. To qualify for WaterSure, you must also have three or more children up to 19 years old in full-time education who live with you, or someone in your household who has a medical condition which means they use a lot of water. If this applies to you, you do not have to pay more than the average household bill - you could save money.

Surface Water Drainage

Waste water charges include the cost of the disposal of rainwater from your premises. If you think that the rainwater from your property does not drain to a public sewer, please call Thames Water on
0845 920 0888
and ask for details of their surface water rebate.
