We are proud to provide a sustainable, affordable, clean and safe water supply and to manage and treat the waste water returned to us in a way that protects the environment.

Who is responsible for your pipes

We are responsible for the water main that runs beneath your street and for part of the service pipe that connects your property to the main.

The part of the service pipe from the water main to the boundary of your property - called the communication pipe - belongs to us. The part from the boundary into your property is called the supply pipe and it belongs to you (or the owner of the property if you don't own it).

There is normally a stop tap at the boundary between our part of the service pipe and yours. This is located in a small chamber with a lid at surface level. If you have an external water meter it will be located in this chamber.

If you have a leak in your supply pipe, we may mend this free of charge, or offer you a subsidised pipe renewal, subject to certain terms and conditions. Please contact us for more information. If you suspect this is the case please contact us.
