The sound of music

11/02/2008

A menu of musical delights has been lined up for lunchtimes at the Cramphorn Theatre in Chelmsford.

Essex & Suffolk Water is supporting a series of concerts hosted by Chelmsford Civic Theatres which will feature a range of music, from jazz to classical.

The concerts, which take place most Wednesdays from 1pm-2pm, will provide a platform for talented musicians from across the region to showcase their skills. It will also give pupils from local schools and music classes the chance to perform.

Forthcoming recitals include: Anne Skinner and friends on February 13 who will be performing music for flutes and pianist and composer Jacob Baker on February 20.  On February 27 pupils from The Plume School in Maldon will be showcasing their musical skills.

The lunchtime concerts have been running for five years and were set up by Jeffrey Wilson, one of the country’s foremost composers and educators in music.

Entrance is free but there is a suggested £1 donation.

Jacqueline Searle from Essex & Suffolk Water said: “We are pleased to be able to support these lunchtime concerts. There is a lot of hidden musical talent across the region and these concerts give the local community the chance to tap into a great wealth of entertainment.”
