A team of water workers has made a real difference to the lives of children at a pre-school in Maldon.
Employees from Essex & Suffolk Water have helped to spruce up the new extension at the Buddies pre-school in Poulton Close as part of the company’s community initiative, ‘Just an Hour’.
This initiative enables employees to devote at least 12 hours of work time to an approved community cause and is designed to improve local communities and the environment.
The team carried out a range of jobs at the school during the two-day project including constructing shelves and cabinets, revamping storage cabinets and putting up noticeboards.
Buddies is a non-profit making pre-school for children aged two to five years and welcomes children with special needs.
Team member Bryan Woods, who works in maintenance and planning said: “We had a very enjoyable time and it is great to think that we have made such a difference. It was good to work as a team on such a rewarding project.”
Buddies committee member Doreen Levy said: “We were very pleased with the work that the team from Essex & Suffolk Water carried out. The ‘Just an Hour’ scheme is a brilliant way to give something back to the community.
“The work completed by this team will go a long way towards helping us expand our services to support more children and families in the future.”
