A prime spot in Chelmsford has been picked by water workers to raise awareness of Comic Relief.

A giant red nose has taken up residence on the Borehole Building at Essex & Suffolk Water’s offices in Hall Street, Chelmsford.

The nose, which weighs 15kg and is 1.4m wide, has been put up by the company to raise awareness of Red Nose Day, which takes place on 16 March.

Essex & Suffolk Water will be collecting money on Red Nose Day to raise money for Comic Relief.

Red Nose Day aims to tackle poverty and social injustice in the UK and Africa. 40% of the money raised directly through Red Nose Day is allocated to work in the UK and 60% goes to work in Africa.

Claire Bishop from the corporate affairs team at Essex & Suffolk Water said:
“We believe that we are the first company in Chelmsford to display one of these giant noses.

“We want the nose to raise awareness of Comic Relief and we hope that it encourages others to go out and raise money for this worthy cause.”
