A newly refurbished café with spectacular views of Hanningfield reservoir will be opening its doors for business at Easter weekend.

‘Café on the Water’ at Essex & Suffolk Water’s fishing lodge on Gifford’s Lane, Hanningfield, will open on April 7th 2007.

The stylish new venue overlooks the magnificent Hanningfield reservoir and nature reserve and features an outdoor decking area for dining.

The cafe will offer a range of hot and cold snacks including healthy options and a children’s menu. The premises are also licensed so that visitors can have a drink with their meal.

Visitors to the café do not have to book and it will be open all year round. Opening times are 7.30am-5pm, seven days a week.

There are ample parking facilities at the fishing lodge and an on-site shop which sells a range of clothing and leisure supplies.

The nature reserve next to the café is renowned for the wildlife it is home to and is very popular with bird-watchers from across the region. There is a walking trail which can take you through the nature reserve to the Essex Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre where you can learn more about the wildlife and habitats of the reservoir.
