A dragon boat race on Hanningfield reservoir has helped water workers raise cash for a life-saving service.
The race, organised by Essex & Suffolk Water to celebrate the reservoir’s 50th birthday, raised £1,000 for the Essex Air Ambulance.
The money was raised through sponsorship of employees who took part and donations to the race from contractors of the company which included plumbing contractor RSF and Water Direct.
The Essex Air Ambulance was established as a charity in 1997 to provide a life-saving service for the people of Essex.
Ian Cleaver from the distributions operations department at Essex & Suffolk Water said: “We had an excellent day of racing in the Dragon Boats and it also proved to be a great team building exercise.
“We are very pleased to have raised cash for the Essex Air Ambulance as it is such a worthy cause and benefits so many people in Essex.”
Jean Twin from Essex Air Ambulance added: “Essex Air Ambulance is delighted to receive this fantastic donation from Essex & Suffolk Water.
“The Essex Air Ambulance receives no government or National Lottery funding and is totally reliant upon the people of Essex and local companies such as Essex & Suffolk Water. We would like to thank them for their continued support."
