Timescales

The application for planning permissions for the Scheme was made in December 2007 to four local authorities. 

Planning permission was granted in Spring/Summer 2008 for the Kirtling Green to Wixoe pipeline that forms part of the overall Scheme.

On 11 November 2008, Colchester Borough Council Planning Committee unanimously recommended to approve the application to raise Abberton Reservoir and to construct the pipeline from Wormingford to Abberton.

2008/09 Decision on applications.
Spring/Summer 2009 Work to divert utilities near Abberton Reservoir.
2010/11 Construction of Kirtling Green to Wixoe pipeline and Wormingford to Abberton pipeline.
January 2010 Construction work begins at the reservoir.
2013 Enhanced reservoir starts to receive water.
2014 Enhanced reservoir fully operational.
