At Essex and Suffolk Water, we′re passionate about sustainable management of our sites, enhancing biodiversity and reducing our company’s impact on the environment.

We′re happy to say some areas within our sites are designated:

  • Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)
  • Special Protection Areas (SPAs)
  • Special Areas of Conservation (SACs), or
  • ancient woodland

These kinds of designations mean those areas need special attention and detailed management plans.

Proactive catchment management projects enable us to work with other stakeholders in our catchments to ensure that the raw water quality is maintained at a high level.

And of course, we can′t care for our environment alone! We¬†work with lots of organisations to manage the land we own, such as:

  • Natural England
  • the Environment Agency
  • Essex Wildlife Trust
  • Norfolk Wildlife Trust
  • Suffolk Wildlife Trust
  • the Land Trust, and
  • the Broads Authority
