FAQs
If we have to visit your property to carry out a survey or fit the meter, we’ll make an appointment that is convenient for you. To help the visit go smoothly.
Here are a few things you can prepare:
Check your internal stop tap:
- Do you know where it is? It could be either under the kitchen sink, bathroom or in the boiler cupboard.
- Is it working? You can check by turning it off, running the water until it stops, then turning it back on. (Remember to keep all taps off).
- Make sure there’s nothing blocking access, like furniture or belongings.
If you have a boundary box outside your property (this is usually a small metal or plastic box near the pavement or driveway that covers the water meter):
- Make sure it’s easy to access, with no overgrown shrubs or trees.
- No vehicles parked on or near it.
Yes. When we fit your water meter, the water will need to be turned off.
The time it takes depends on the work involved, but it usually lasts between 15 and 90 minutes. Before we turn off the water, the technician will let you know so you can prepare, like filling up the kettle.
