The scheme is a national accreditation body which checks and approves businesses and their plumbers to give reassurance about their qualifications to keep drinking water safe and healthy.
Using an approved plumber/plumbing business helps prevent the risk of drinking water being contaminated by poor plumbing or sub-standard products. Plumbers approved through WaterSafe have specific training in the Water Fittings Regulations and Byelaws, to ensure they meet the strict legal requirements for installing water pipes and fitting.
NHS guidance is to only use WaterSafe approved plumbers, and they are also backed by all the water companies in the UK and the drinking water quality regulators. WaterSafe approved plumbers must all follow WaterSafe's customer commitments, conditions of membership, and scheme rules; and have customer redress arrangements in place.
It's easy to find a WaterSafe approved plumber local to you - just type in your postcode at www.watersafe.org.uk or use the search-bar facility below.
