Need someone to talk to about money?

StepChange Debt Charity can give you free, independent advice on money and how to handle debt.

It's not an easy conversation, so we want to make sure you have access to trained advisors who can help.

Visit their website at or call them on

0800 138 1111. This helpline is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm and Saturdays, from 8am to 4pm.

Before you call, StepChange asks that you fill in their online budget form, found in the 'Prepare for Your Call' section on their contact page. It will give them an idea of your circumstances. Calls take around 40 minutes.

You can also email the charity, with their online email form

Citizen's Advice Bureau

They'll give you advice on:

  • debt solutions
  • loans
  • banking, and
  • budgeting.
